Welcome to the official online home of underground rock from Eugene, Oregon circa 1980-1995. Relive the time you spent in someone's damp, smelly basement while you were in college! Please email to Panicon13th@sbcglobal.net if you'd like a post removed because you don't want anyone to know about or ever hear your old band again.

Chemakill - Chemical Playground (1990, Cassette Only)
Rob - Guitar
Mike - Bass/Vocals
Randy (R.I.P.) - Drums
Chemankill were around for a few years late 80's - early 90's. I know they released at least one other tape and if I recall if was lo-fi and came out before this one. Don't know much history, anyone want to help out?

Chemakill were one of the only bands in the Eugene scene at the time (late 80's through about early 90's as you said)that played real hardcore thrash.
ReplyDeleteTheir original guitarist, Rob, was killed in a car accident that was caused by another motorist.
Some time afterwards, I joined in as their new guitarist. We played lot's of shows around town as well as up in PDX and Seattle.
We also wrote a bunch of new material, put together some money, and recorded a 5 or 6 song EP at Don Ross studios here in Eugene, but then broke up and never produced it.
I wonder some times if it is still just sitting there on reel-to-reel tape or if it is long since recorded over. There were some good, unheard songs on it.
RIP Rob, RIP Randy.
Cheers,
Ken.
of course Mike went no to start the great band Yob, that is doing really well these days.
ReplyDeleteThe 7" was the "Power of Bob" which came out right after Rob's death. Randy went on to form Big Bubba. When did Randy die?
ReplyDeleteHey Brent,
ReplyDeleteYou don't have the 7" do you? Or the first cassette only release? Tough to track stuff down this far down the road. Not sure what year Randy died but I could certainly find out if you'd like to know, email me - panicon13th@sbcglobal.net
I knew Rob in high school, watched them form the band.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure Brent loaned me a bass and amp to audition for my first band, Ill Will. He worked across the VRC food court from me. Coffee Corner?
ReplyDeleteRandy used to have stacks of the power of bob record. I know I have a few laying around
