Prairie School - Unreleased 4-Track demos (1989)

Chris Sherry - Drums
Tony Barry- Bass
Scott Glass - Guitar/Vocals

I should know more about this band having seen them play a few times back in college. My roommate actually recorded them on 4-Track but the tape has long since vanished. Fortunately, John Kluff (Now William) did a better job of recording them on 4-track and I managed to hang onto my copy of that tape so here it is. Don't know any of the song titles except Spread the Love which was on my cassette only comp 13th Street Revisited. The picture above is the cover of the only Prairie School 7" which I unfortunately do not have. Anyone have it? Please message me if so!

  1. Hi again! I have the 7" and I'll digitize it this weekend.

The band members are Chris Sherry, Tony Barry and Scott Glass. I must've picked up the record @ one of their WOW Hall shows, as Scott had autographed it and everything.

  2. These guys were a great 3 piece. They were housemates or close friends with the Now William and affiliated Joseph boys. They were initially heavily influenced by REM which shifted to a strong Fugazi influence after Fugazi played at WOW Hall. They were suppose to open for Fugazi for that concert that was cancelled because of racist skin-head agitation which was a huge bummer for them. They later got sick of their name and changed it to Funnelhead. Tony moved to Portland and became a music teacher. Scott moved to New York as an architect I think and I lost track of Chris Sherry other than that the last word I heard from him through my ex-girlfriend that he finally felt like he could play drums ok (like 6 or 7 years after the band broke up). I always thought he was a powerhouse. I've got the 7" as well.

    1. Hey Kurt, it's Chris - thanks for the kind words! That's a very succinct oral history of the band. The 4-track demos sucked. I've got the last 16-track stuff we did after the single, once we figured out how to play.
